For Students or Parents
Is Next Step Guyana really free?
Yes we are! Every session, event and resource we offer is completely free.
Next Step Guyana was inspired by Guyanese students and volunteers who want to give back to you and your future.
What can I get help with?
A lot! Our team of experienced mentors can assist with:
Helping you choose CSEC/ CAPE subjects
University advice (UG, UWI, international)

General life/ career guidance
Who can sign up for a session?
Any Guyanese student or parent of the student who is preparing for CSEC or CAPE, has completed CSEC or CAPE, or is simply navigating any secondary or post-secondary decision whether career wise or academic can request guidance from our experienced mentors.
How do I book a session with a mentor?
Its super easy! Just fill out the Student or Parent Sign-Up Form on our Sign Up Page. We'll match you with a mentor based on your interests and email you a confirmation.
How long is each session and where do they happen?
Each session lasts about 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on what you or others want to talk about. All sessions are held virtually on Google Meet and include multiple mentors from your chosen area. We'll let you know the link to the meeting once your session is confirmed.
How long does it take to get matched to a mentor?
You can expect an email from us 10 seconds after signing up where our system confirms your session and a session less than 6 days of your sign up, this is because our Q&A sessions are fixed weekly (eg. Law every Wednesday).
For Potential Mentors
Who can become a mentor?
Any past CSEC/ CAPE Guyanese student or current CAPE student, university student or young professional who wants to support younger students. You don't need to be perfect, just passionate, reliable and able to share your journey honestly.
What is the time commitment?
As little as as 1 hour per week. You can choose how many students you take weekly and block off weeks you're unavailable. It's totally flexible!
How do I apply to become a mentor?
It's easy! Fill out the Mentor Application Form on the Sign Up Page. Our team will review your submission and follow up by email as soon as possible.
Will I receive training?
Yes! Every new mentor gets a short orientation and a mentorship guide.
General Questions
Is this a government program?
No. Next Step Guyana is an independent, student-led initiative launched by Guyanese students and volunteers. We hope to eventually collaborate with local schools or groups but we are not tied to any official government or private organisation.
Can I partner with Next Step Guyana?
